AG Bondi says violent anti-Israel student protesters in US on visas 'need to be kicked out'

US Attorney General Advocates for Expulsion of Anti-Israel Student Protesters on Visas

US Attorney General Pam Bondi has called for the removal of anti-Israel student protesters residing in the country on visas, emphasizing that these individuals pose a threat to American students. Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) alongside Republican Senator Ted Cruz and radio host Ben Ferguson, Bondi underscored the necessity of maintaining safety within the student body.

Bondi, who took office as the 87th attorney general on February 5, asserted that the implementation of law is a fundamental responsibility of her position. She also criticized the anti-Israel demonstrations on college campuses across the nation, describing them as violent rather than peaceful protests.

Throughout 2024, colleges nationwide became hotbeds for protest against the war in Israel. These demonstrations were often accompanied by a rise in antisemitism, leading many Jewish students to express their concerns about their safety on campuses.

Notably, Columbia University in New York City saw protesters occupying the Hamilton Hall, while prestigious institutions such as UCLA, Harvard, and Yale had to dismantle student encampments demanding their universities to divest completely from Israel.

The war in Israel, instigated by the terrorist organization Hamas on October 7, 2023, led to an increase in antisemitism on campuses, with incidents of threatening protests, offensive graffiti, and Jewish students feeling targeted. The situation deteriorated to such an extent that Jewish students at certain schools, including Columbia, were advised to evacuate the campus for their safety.

Discussing her initial days as attorney general with Cruz and Ferguson, Bondi shared her concerns about the politicization and inefficiency within the Department of Justice during former President Joe Biden's administration. Despite these challenges, Bondi expressed her commitment to restoring order and efficiency within the Department, stating that she had already issued 14 executive orders.

Bondi also shared that many Department of Justice employees appreciated her leadership and were committed to combating crime, describing them as dedicated individuals who pursued careers in law enforcement to uphold justice.
