Horror as severed foot washes up on beach in Spanish holiday spot loved by Brits

Severed Foot Found on Popular Spanish Beach Favored by British Tourists

A shocking find was made on a Spanish island popular with British vacationers. A human foot and lower leg were discovered washed up on a well-visited beach in Majorca. The grisly remains were located near Can Pastilla, close to Playa de Palma, just hours after a woman's body was found in the same vicinity. A tourist came across the unsettling sight near a bustling nightclub on the beach and promptly informed local authorities. However, by the time officials arrived, the foot had been carried back out to sea.

Divers were quickly dispatched and managed to retrieve the foot, along with a tibia and fibula from the water. Despite the proximity in time between the discovery of the body parts and the woman's body, Spanish investigators concluded that the remains were too large to belong to the woman. Based on the size of the bones, authorities suspect they belonged to a man. A post-mortem examination has been ordered by the Spanish National Police to determine the identity of the deceased.

Alarmingly, this is the 10th instance of a body or body parts washing ashore in the Balearic Islands this year, affecting tourist destinations like Mallorca, Menorca, and Ibiza. Local authorities suspect these incidents are linked to migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea in small boats. Additional bodies have been found in the Mallorcan towns of Cala Ratjada and Cala Deia, with four more discovered on the Island of Formentera.

This series of tragic discoveries highlights the perilous journey migrants face while trying to reach Europe. Spanish Police believe all the victims were migrants attempting to enter Europe illegally from Algeria, likely using small boats or rafts.
