Beyond its role in transportation, the station is a renowned shopping venue. The Promenaden Hauptbahnhof Leipzig, located within the station's multi-level concourse, houses over 140 shops. Visitors can explore a variety of stores, from fashion and beauty outlets to supermarkets and souvenir shops. The station also features numerous cafes and restaurants, making it a convenient spot for both travelers and locals. The shops operate from 9:30 AM to 10 PM, Monday through Saturday, with about 80 businesses open on Sunday afternoons.
