Arrest warrants have been issued for four individuals linked to the tragic fire at a nightclub in North Macedonia, which has claimed at least 59 lives and left approximately 155 others injured. The interior minister confirmed that one person has been detained, though details of their involvement remain undisclosed.
The fire erupted around 2:35 a.m. local time on Sunday during a concert at the Pulse nightclub in Kočani, located about 100 kilometers (60 miles) east of Skopje, the capital. Initial accounts indicate that the event, featuring the popular local hip-hop duo DNK, drew a crowd of around 1,500 attendees, predominantly young people.
According to the interior minister, the fire was sparked by pyrotechnics used by some attendees, which ignited the roof. North Macedonia’s MRT public broadcaster reported that 27 individuals with severe burns were admitted to Skopje city hospital, while another 23 were receiving treatment at a clinical center. Among the injured were children.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickosk expressed profound sorrow over the nightclub fire, describing the loss of so many young lives as "irreparable."
