Woman Set Ablaze on Tram; Attacker Escapes
On Sunday, a woman was doused with a liquid and set on fire by an attacker on a tram in eastern Germany, according to police reports. The victim sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a hospital, while the perpetrator managed to escape.
The incident occurred in Gera, and no other passengers were harmed, as reported by the German news agency dpa. The tram was halted when passengers activated the emergency stop, allowing the attacker to flee the scene.
The tram driver acted quickly to extinguish the flames, and the 46-year-old victim was airlifted to a hospital. Authorities are actively searching for the suspect, though the motive and type of liquid used remain unknown.
