Hegseth declares 'peace through strength is back' while vowing 'unrelenting' campaign against Houthi targets

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the U.S. is intensifying its military actions against Houthi targets in Yemen, emphasizing a strategy of "peace through strength." The campaign will persist until the Iran-supported Houthis cease their attacks on American assets, Hegseth stated on Sunday.

He explained that the military operations would continue until the Houthis agree to halt their assaults on U.S. ships and drones. The U.S. Central Command confirmed that it had launched precision strikes against Houthi positions in Yemen to protect American interests and ensure safe navigation.

President Donald Trump shared on social media that he authorized the military actions against the Houthi militants in Yemen. Hegseth reiterated that the campaign aims to restore freedom of navigation and reinforce deterrence.

Hegseth criticized the previous administration for neglecting to address the Houthi threat, noting that U.S. ships had been targeted multiple times. He stressed the importance of securing navigation routes as a national priority and vowed to maintain the pressure until these objectives are achieved.

This operation marks the first significant military action against the Houthis since President Trump began his second term.
