Michelle Yeoh set to return in new 'Star Trek' movie

Michelle Yeoh to Reprise Role in Upcoming 'Star Trek' Film

Following her recent Oscar win for Best Actress in "Everything Everywhere All At Once," Michelle Yeoh is set to return to the Star Trek franchise. She will once again portray Emperor Philippa Georgiou in the upcoming film "Star Trek: Section 31."

Yeoh first appeared as this character in 2017 with the launch of the Emmy-winning series "Star Trek: Discovery" on Paramount+. The announcement of her return was made by Paramount+ and CBS Studios, with Yeoh also taking on the role of executive producer for the film.

Expressing her excitement in a press release, Yeoh shared her enthusiasm for revisiting a character that has been significant to her since the start of this new era of Star Trek. She described the opportunity as a dream come true, especially in a year that has highlighted the importance of perseverance. She added a playful note, reminding fans to "live long and prosper," unless Emperor Georgiou decides otherwise.

This year has been particularly momentous for Yeoh, who became the first Asian woman to win an Oscar for Best Actress. "Everything Everywhere All At Once" also won seven Oscars, including Best Picture.

The plot of "Section 31" will follow Yeoh's character as she joins a covert Starfleet division tasked with safeguarding the United Federation of Planets while confronting her past. Production for "Star Trek: Section 31" is scheduled to start later this year.
